And so it begins.....

We were getting into the van Tuesday night after Brooke's dance class, and BJ met us there after work so he was getting into his car. Cole saw him start to pull away and said "I want to race Daddy, I want to race Daddy!" It MUST be in the blood!

Brooke's Lost Tooth

Brooke lost her other top tooth, and is waiting patiently for it to grow in. She and Alyssa both had loose teeth at the same time, and when Brooke lost her tooth, she tried to convince Alyssa to let me pull hers out too so the toothfairy could come to see them both on the same night. Alyssa wasn't having it-especially after she saw me pull out Brooke's tooth. Brooke, to her credit, put on a pretty brave face afterward and was pretty convincing. We'll see how long it takes before Alyssa catches up with Brooke-she has four loose teeth-and Brooke has only lost 5!

Alyssa's First Lost Tooth

Alyssa lost her first tooth on July 24. She was brushing her teeth and came out to me crying. She had pushed her tooth out with her toothbrush and it almost went down the drain....kinda reminds me of another child who lost her first tooth eating a Reese's cup and swallowed it! At least Alyssa had a tooth to put under her pillow for the toothfairy-who left her a handsome reward and a kiss on the cheek!

Funny things kids say and do

At Costco after getting a sample of something to drink:

Brooke: Mommy, I must be a real princess because when I drink from a cup, my pinky finger goes out.

We tell knock knock jokes when we are in public restrooms or the car to pass the time, and Cole told his own joke for the first time in June (at the age of 2) in a store restroom:

Cole: Knock knock

Mommy: Who's there?

Cole: Diaper

Mommy: Diaper who?

Cole: Baby diaper

May not seem funny when you read it-but I laughed so hard-he came up with this one all on his own!

Alyssa, holding out her play cell phone to me: Mommy, say hi to my boyfriend.

A conversation with Daddy in the van earlier that same day:

Alyssa: (on her pretend cell phone) I'm talking to my boyfriend.

Daddy: You can't have a boyfriend until I'm 80 or dead.

Brooke: I have a boyfriend, kind of.

Daddy:Who is that?

Brooke: Well, Austin likes me. But I don't like him.

Daddy: You're not allowed to have a boyfriend.

Brooke: I am in control of my own love life.

Cole's words for things:

chockate guk=chocolate milk

shisha or tisha=Alyssa

toll=Cole

geegle=Diesel

heehee=horse

whoa=marshmallow

biper=diaper

bup=up

choo choo=train

oo oo aa aa=monkey

_____'s house=______'s bedroom

cheese cheecha= cheese pizza

cock=sock

drinka Mommy's water=I want a drink of WHATEVER is in Mommy's cup

no guckle= no buckle (as in his car seat)

Cole likes to dance and even "head bang" to music, particularly rock that BJ listens to. He was even singing along to "Shout at the Devil" by Motley Crue, according to Daddy, while in the car-Mommy was Oh so happy to hear that one:) At least he likes my Dave Matthews Band music too!

In the bathroom at the movie theater, Cole in the stall with Mommy:

Cole: Mommy has a big butt.

Mommy: Thanks Cole.

Cole: I want to see Mommy's big butt (as he is trying to turn me around to look at it).

Mommy: No Cole.

Cole: I want to see Mommy's big butt now!

OH soooo embarrassing, since everyone could obviously hear him!

Grandma in Ohio was sending a package with beanie babies in it to the kids and they were so excited for it to get here that Brooke kept calling her to ask her when it would get here. One day it looked like it was lost or really delayed in getting here when Grandma tracked it on the computer. Brooke called her and here is part of the conversation:

Grandma: I'll keep my fingers crossed that you will get it tomorrow.

Brooke: I heard that crossing your fingers does not bring luck. In fact, it brings bad luck, so uncross your fingers since that's probably why we haven't gotten the box!
